Subject: Request to Rebuild James S. Rickards Middle School as Originally Promised

I write as a concerned community member and Oakland Park city commissioner. My responsibility is to advocate for our residents, particularly concerning the welfare and future of our children.

The reconstruction of James S. Rickards Middle School has been an ongoing concern. Initial plans generated excitement about improving our community with a modern, safe learning environment for our students. However, the current state of the school falls short. Outdated facilities, inadequate safety measures, and a recent roof collapse during school hours are alarming.

I request immediate action from the School Board to rebuild James S. Rickards Middle as initially intended. Please consider allocating additional funds to realize the project's full potential. Our children's education must remain our top priority, and their learning environment is essential to their success.

I understand budget constraints may be challenging. I urge the exploration of all options, including grant funding, to secure resources for this critical project. Our community consistently supports education, and I believe constituents will endorse reasonable measures for their children's success.

As a commissioner, I'm dedicated to collaborating with the School Board to align James S. Rickards Middle with its original vision. Our children's education is an investment in our community's future, and I'm confident that together, we can make necessary improvements for everyone's benefit.

Thank you for addressing this vital issue. I eagerly anticipate working together to restore James S. Rickards Middle School as a source of pride and excellence for our students and educators.
