    Dear School Board Members,

As the 2022-2023 Student Advisor to the School Board, I had the privilege of serving as the sole elected student voice representing the interests of over 250,000 students in BCPS. It is with great enthusiasm and a deep commitment to student advocacy that I write to express my strong support for the passage and codification of Policy 1330 - Student Advisor to the School Board.
This policy represents a significant step forward in ensuring that the voice of the student is not only heard but also actively integrated into the decision-making processes of our school district. The responsibilities and duties outlined in this policy provide a clear framework for the Student Advisor to the School Board, allowing future leaders to effectively carry out their role as a vital bridge between the student body and the School Board.

By establishing eligibility criteria and training requirements, this policy ensures that future Student Advisors will be well-prepared to represent their peers. It also demonstrates the School Board's commitment to providing opportunities for students to engage in leadership roles within our educational system.

Further, this policy also aligns with the values of Sunshine Law and transparency, inclusivity, and student-centered decision-making. It sends a powerful message to the entire community that the School Board is dedicated to hearing the diverse perspectives and concerns of our students.

I urge you to wholeheartedly support and vote in the affirmative Policy 1330. By doing so, you reaffirm your commitment to the principles of democracy, representation, and student empowerment. Together, we can continue to work towards an educational system that truly reflects the voices and aspirations of the students it serves. Thank you, again, for your time and dedication to the students of Broward County Public Schools.
