If you ever questioned why teachers leave the County read the comments made for this post:
You know you work for BCPS when….. at the grocery store my credit card was declined due to insufficient funds.
You know you work for BCPS when your rent is 95% of your take home pay.
And you can’t afford to move because you need 3 months rent saved. I'm freaking out as my landlord is selling the house and my rent has stayed the same for years and now have to move and pay 500-800 more monthly for a smaller place.
I took in a roommate to live with my family in order to make bills. He rents a room in the house. This is with 26 years of experience, National Board Certification, and three masters degrees. If that isn’t ridiculous, I don’t know what is!
You know you work for Broward when you see an old sliding pay scale (*with steps) and you make less than a teacher with the same years experience as you 20 years later!
This is not how it is supposed to be in 2023!
You know you work for BCPS when you don’t attend social events because you have to tutor to pay your bills.
You know you work for Broward Schools when your car has 231,000 miles and I can't afford the repairs or to buy a new one.
You know you work for BCPS and have to live in WPB to afford a house-add a 2.5 + hour commute. You want my data WHEN?
You know you work for BCPS if you analyze and shuffle your bills because you can’t afford to pay them all.
You know you work in BCPS when you live off of credit cards because your biweekly ain’t cutting it!
You know you work for BCPS when you have 3 part time jobs and still looking for more work.
You know you work for BCPS when you read over 100 comments about not having enough money.  It’s not right that a teacher can’t afford groceries and I’m sincerely sorry this is happening.

My name is Sharlene Bancs employee #84466,I am opposing my name termination.I don't currently see any names up 4 termination but due 2the fact that I have messaged w/the talent&acquisition director &often times received no response,I am choosing 2 B proactive.I received an email from Susan Rockelman December 5th, in response 2 an email sent regarding placement&reasonable accommodations,Ms. Rockleman's email stated my name would be placed for termination for failing to respond 2 an offer of employment.I responded to Ms. Rockelman's email stating I did respond via email since I had not received any offer via mail &her email was actually a response to my own, she has not responded back 2 that email. My email was an inquiry 2 the unofficial offer 4 placement w/reasonable accommodations&I asked specifically what the reasonable accommodations were 4 the position. It's alarming this detail was omitted as it's now over a 1 1/2 yr I haven't been placed due 2 waiting 4 reasonable accommodations.I emailed Ms. Hughes of the EEO October 25th&November 6th of 2023 regarding possible positions&reasonable accommodations&received no response until a month&a half later in the form of this unofficial offer. The response was the unofficial offer of a position but gave no details as 2the reasonable accommodations which is what caused the delay initially. This is disheartening&I fear this conduct correlates directly w/my reporting of discrimination to EEOC.This is a duplicate of what talent&acquisitions has done in 2022 w/the exception of giving no deadline this time.I am asking the board 2 deny/make no decision regarding this termination until a thorough accounting of all procedures have been done by a neutral party not identified in my EEOC complaint.Lastly U will find I never received official notice of placement/reasonable accommodations&i will forward those emails 2 all board members
