Dear Broward County School Board,

I fully endorse the proposed policy for student advisors to the School Board. As a former Student Advisor, I've experienced firsthand the value of this role in amplifying student voices and fostering collaboration.

The outlined criteria and duties ensure student advisors are well-prepared and engaged representatives. Approving this policy will further empower students and strengthen our educational community. By providing a platform to student voices through this policy, Broward County Public Schools has the opportunity to become a leader in expanding student-led advocacy. I hope that your workshop will foster a meaningful discussion and that it will lead to a unanimous vote in favor of policy 1330 at the next Regular School Board meeting.

My name is Beau Simon I was the student advisor for the board from 2018-2020. While this policy is a good tool and starting point to the process - there are many things missing that could be addressed and useful including grounds for removal, composition and it does not even mention the credits the student gets for being the advisor or any other basic grounds that come along with being the advisor. Good starting point but is missing key aspects needed towards making this policy effective. If anyone would like to know more - about half of KCW has my phone number just give me a ring.
