Thanks so much for giving us this update on the School Board proposal to cut the current system of the school SRO program. This is a terrible idea to create a program that's outside of the already established and trained officers who protect our students and faculty every day. This news coming on yet another day of a "mass shooter" at a school in our country where a 6th grader is murdered, and 5 others injured. I still have the vivid memories of going to the funerals of 2 of the MSD JROTC Cadets that were murdered during that massacre of 17 students and 2 faculty members. Families are suffering and lives forever changed when these fatalities happen. Saving money is never the answer compared to the safety of our communities. How many more lives will be changed during this process of hiring and training others to try to do the job that's already proved and in place. Please feel free to forward my words.

This is not the time to consider a District Police Force. Right now Police from the various agencies answer to their oath and their Departments. A Broward School Police Department, no matter what anyone says, will answer to the District.

Too many times the District has shown that the Students best interest comes after District, School and Staff.

*Schools denying access to video which ends up showing inappropriate behavior by Staff.

*Possible abuse by Staff not being reported to Parents, who find out from Police

*Data being manipulated to protect the District from Civil Rights violations

*District Police arresting Volunteer of the year, and having charges dropped

    and on and on…………

Do we really want a Police Department that answers to Broward County Public Schools? We will lose the checks in place now by having outside agencies Police our Schools .The District has shown for years a lack of accountability and transparency, not something we want from a District Police Force.

Get you house in order, become the School District Citizens want and can be proud of, and then it may be the time, but: NOT TODAY

    Thank you,
