The online Comment window has expired
My name is Dr. Trudy Jermanovich.
I appreciate the effort which has been made over several years in refining this policy. The addition of submitting written comments has been a great improvement, even if it is usually most active on controversial topics. I do wish the public had until 1:00 PM as stated in the policy for 9AM meetings. For some reason written comments are often not accepted after 12:45 PM.
It’s only 15 minutes but it doesn’t follow your policy. Perhaps that section could be rewritten since today we have until 5:00 PM.
“See the comments page for the deadline for written comments.”
Here’re some other suggestions as you again update the policy:
On page 10 - 4B the following link is broken and was reported to the technology department.
https://www.browardschools.com/school-board/public-participation
This is what came up and I reported to the technology department.
“OOPS! THAT PAGE CAN’T BE FOUND”
After doing a search, this was the link which actually gave me some information for public speakers.
https://www.browardschools.com/fs/pages/78994
I suggest you put something general in policies instead of a link which might easily be changed and become frustrating for the public.
Also, I applaud the chair for finding a way for questions to be asked from the public during the Rulemaking Process. It isn’t clear in this policy but perhaps you could add a sentence stating that:
“The public may speak generally on a Rulemaking policy or ask questions about the proposed policy during the three minutes afforded to them. The clock will be paused so that the staff can address each question individually.”
Since I will be unable to attend tomorrow’s meeting, I am grateful to be able to submit my comment electronically for all to be able to read. And I won’t be spreading this horrendous cold to everyone.
