My name is Dr. Trudy Jermanovich.
I asked if PLC’s were beneficial since they appear to be expanded in CERP on p.6 of the presentation
In 2019, BTU had a MOU on PLC’s. This plan does not appear to follow the criteria set up in that MOU.
    Comments:
“In my school, I don't see an opt out option for PLC’s...they're during our contract planning time. We earn service hours, but to be real, I don't need those hours. So I DO WISH THEY WERE OPTIONAL for those who don’t need the hours.
They’re run by a team leader with an admin or support member in attendance. We have to accomplish 24 HOURS a school year & there are required hours for application. Deadlines were hard - not self paced at all. I like to know things in depth. I still didn't see real value. The whole data movement in general hasn't brought us any closer to better learning so, of course, the answer is we need more of what's not the answer.
BUT WHEN THE GOAL IS A TEST SCORE, NOT ACTUALLY STUDENT LEARNING OR REAL GROWTH, all the steps to get there are so ridiculous. By the time I give an assessment for data, I already know who will do well and who won't. I also don't need data chats or to be told who missed what questions. Do they think don't already know this? This is what I mean by wasting time and resources.
Some schools require “Walk to Read.” It’s for Tier 2 or 3 kids who get intervention. List comes from the state apparently. We are never told the criteria. There are never kids on there who should be and others on there who don’t need it.
They never add or delete kids unless the kid goes through RTI which is another useless thing bringing about more paperwork for teachers.
We’ll be losing more and more teachers if they keep teachers on this pace.
Walk to Read isn't everywhere and to be real would it probably make me quit. It's when kids are leveled and go to different teachers in a larger group for intervention. Another NOT really good idea because needs are more individual and TEACHERS KNOW THEIR STUDENTS BEST.
I do what I love until they make me not love it...then adios…It sure as Hades isn't the great salary.”
