I am writing to express my opposition to proposal OO-16. If there were clear indicators such as inventory or funds mismanagement, underperformance, or an inability to meet demands, I would understand the need for such a measure, my business mind would agree. However, the verifiable truth is that our department's numbers are impressive, even when compared to industry standards (Inventory spend 15% lees than previous year, 99% inventory accuracy, averaging above 97% inventory on hand at all times, 98% of all procured inventory issued).
There is no risk in not approving this right now; we are not facing an imminent collapse. The data clearly shows that the department is currently well managed. Transitioning to an external source before seeing the benefits of the $2.5 million investment you've made towards improvements of which this department is a focal point, seems to be premature. There are gains that are yet to be realized.
If, after a year, the investment does not yield the desired improvements or returns, Fastenal and their competitors will still be available and willing to engage with us. With free room and board to sell us their products, they have everything to gain.
To the Board,

Thank you for considering my perspective.
