I do not support the closure of the school. They have a great magnet program that allows children to thrive.

My Oldest Daughter graduated from Bair and now is a sophomore at Piper High School. My son is now a student at Bair Middle as well. My youngest daughter is really looking forward to joining her big brother at Bair next year. This school, Principals, Teachers and Staff have been awesome to my children and I want that to continue. Not to mention the programs they offer such as Montessori and Cambridge. Please don't rob our children of opportunities that will change their lives for the better. Please keep Bair Middle School OPEN.....

As a Sunrise resident for over 10 years, it saddens me to see that a school in our community is proposed to close. This will have life changing consequences for the families in our community. From what I have heard, Bair has so many learning opportunities for children to take advantage of, that it seems like a big mistake to close. My great-grandchildren currently attend this school and are excelling in the curriculum. Please reconsider this decision!

I have a 6th and 8th grader currently enrolled in the Bair Montessori Magnet Program. This program is the sole reason why we chose to enroll our kids in Bair MS. This program is beneficial to all children who need to be challenged academically and held to a higher standard. We have three younger children that we plan to enroll at Bair as well. My 8th grader has participated in every sport since the 6th grade and the combination of her being a student-athlete has helped her improve in all aspects of life. This is a school that has the potential to improve and make an impact in the community and mold the future.

A new Sunrise resident here with an elementary school student. We were definitely considered Bair Middle after learning about all of the great programs they offer students and help grow their education. It’s very devastating to the city of sunrise to lose a school with so much to offer. They need to find a better option than closing a Magnet school in our district which is scarce these days for kids wanting to learn more in school.

I oppose to the closing of Bair as this will only affect our community negatively.

As a concerned Sunrise resident and grandparent, I’m opposed to the closing of Bair middle school. My grandchildren attend and both are doing great. The specialty programs are especially important to many children. I would hope the school board would consider this and exercise another option besides closure. It’s ALL about the children!!!!

I strongly agree and want Bair Middle School to continue operating. With the state of the world right now, economic and politically, there are still unfortunate children who despite their situations should still be given an opportunity to learn.

I am opposed to the closing of Bair Middle School. I have two children who previously attended Bair, and we had nothing but positive experiences with the staff and school community. I currently have a daughter and a nephew attending Bair, and they are doing well.

I also have children in elementary school who are looking forward to attending Bair in the future. Closing this school would be heartbreaking for them and disruptive to their education and stability. Bair Middle School is a supportive community, and I urge the district to reconsider this decision.

As a resident of Sunrise. I oppose to the closing of Bair Middle school. This will only but a strained on the city causing families with smaller children to move from the city to find a more comfortable and secure place to send there kids to. Please consider the fact that Bair is one out of the two Middle schools that the city has. Closing one will only impact us negatively than positively.

I am a new Sunrise resident with an elementary school student. My family has highly considered Bair Middle after learning about all of the amazing programs they offer. It would be very devastating to this city to lose a school with so much to offer. This city is full of families who deserve these options, not have them limited. We need to find a better option than closing a Magnet school in our district which is scarce these days!

I am a Sunrise resident and my grandchildren are sixth graders at Bair Middle, in the Montesori program. They have excelled at that school, they love it, their teachers and staff....Bair is a hidden gem! How can u close one of the two middle schools that Sunrise has? Also there is no plan in place for the Cambridge, Montessori, or coding programs that these children have started or for the special needs children. This shift will disrupt so many lives. Many families will struggle with finding new schools and routines that fit their current work and support schedules. I don't believe that there is any benefit to closing Bair Middle, let's find savings methods elsewhere.

As a Sunrise resident and a former Bair Middle School student nearly 30 years ago, I strongly oppose the closure of Bair. Bair offers unique programs and opportunities that other local middle schools simply do not, and these programs play a vital role in serving a diverse range of students. Closing Bair would overcrowd the remaining middle schools, spreading teachers too thin and limiting the hands-on, individualized instruction our children need to succeed. Ultimately, this decision would push many families to seek private or charter school options, weakening our public school system and community as a whole.

Sunrise resident, Bair parent, and Bair PTA board member here to ask why Bair? Why are you closing a school that offers so many exceptional programs and educational opportunities to our children that many other Broward County schools do not. By doing this you are giving parents no option but to possibly take their child to charter or private, loosing even more public school attendees. You leave new families and elementary school families with only 1 middle school for our city and not one that is conveniently located for your Bair zoned kids. You have not taken into consideration the families who contine to support public school education, their work schedules, their abilities to get their children to and from school, and the mental health of those students who have a hard time adapting to change. Let's come up with better ways to save money with new enrollment changes, rather than closing beneficial schools, leaving teachers and administrators with no jobs, and putting this burden on students and families. It's just not fair! Why are we giving up on a Magnet status school, when it is such a vigorous process to attain? All the money that went in to it, and the continued education/certification time that the teachers put in. Bair Middle has come a long way and is continuing to get better and better. Dont give up on us now. These kids don't deserve to be given up on! Let's do better Broward County!

As a Sunrise resident and a mother of four, with a child currently attending Bair Middle School, I must say that closing the doors to Bair would be devastating and leave us feeling displaced.
As a mom without a car, this closure presents a massive challenge. If my child misses the bus, gets sick, or needs to be picked up early for a doctor's appointment, I rely on the city bus to get to Bair, and my child can easily navigate to and from school on their own.
If he is forced to attend Westpine, there will be days he will be forced to miss school entirely, which would leave him behind as an IEP student. Westpine is not a viable option for me. Currently, Bair is 2.9 miles away (a 27-minute bus ride or a 50-minute walk). Moving to Westpine means a 4.8-mile trip, which becomes 50 minutes by bus or 1 hour and 48 minutes by walking.
I understand the financial hardships the district is facing, and I am not opposed to saving, but closing schools that our scholars have worked so hard to improve is not the best solution. Many will be negatively impacted rather than positively. All nearby public schools are already impacted, and this will only strain them further.
Please consider the impact of this decision on the well-being of our children. The district is doing great academically—with no D or F schools, wonderful staff, and a 97% graduation rate. This proves there is great work happening that could be ruined by this change.
I could list many more reasons to keep Bair open, but I will end here. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. Let’s keep this progress going and give schools enough time to flourish. Let’s not run away when things get tough, but rather push through with better marketing and values to get families comfortable sending their kids back to public school.

Hi! I am writing as a Sunrise resident and father of 2 children currently attending Bair Middle. As a resident, why are we losing 1 if our only 2 middle schools in our entire city. A city that has a good size population, that keeps growing. I believe our city will continue to grow due to one of the only good cities in the area with one the most affordable housing markets. What happens when families continue to move here and we leave them with minimal options for public schools? Do we want to lose more students to charter and private? Bair Middle provides a high quality education through its magnet and many other programs that it offers which are not found at many public schools. Both of my children are thriving in their Montessori program and have adapted so well to their first year of middle school. I would hate to see that taken away from them or any child there at no fault of their own. Please reconsiderate keeping Bair open for the sake of our children, our families and our community.

Closing Bair Middle school means shutting off what has been and why is to be. Bair middle school is a school that had a rough start but has been developed into a good school full of good influence to the kids who currently and will attend. Closing this school will be a huge change for a lot of children, families, teachers, and faculty. The closure of Bair means that a lot of kids who are unable to get on the bus or whose parents are unable to support are car ride are left in the water because the school is in such a sweet spot. Bair is the only middle school around for some miles. Bair closing will let the history that Bair went through go to waste and be forgotten. A few teacher and faculty will also be out of work also. Bair should stay open for the many opportunities that it has provided and will provide. Keep Bair Middle School Open!!!

Closing this school is closing its doors to our future families and students.
