My name is Jeffrey Rosen, and I have been teaching in Broward County for the past 28 years, including the last 18 years at my current location, Western High School.
Yesterday, I received a letter in the mail from Aetna, on behalf of the School Board, informing me that my current GLP‑1 medication, Wegovy, will no longer be covered by our insurance after April 1, 2026. I am writing to ask why this decision was made.
Since starting this medication, I have lost over 60 pounds, and many of my existing health conditions have been significantly reduced or completely eliminated. I now have more energy to perform my job, and it has allowed me to be the best teacher I can be for my students.
I respectfully and urgently ask that you reconsider this decision. I believe that restoring this coverage would be greatly appreciated not only by me, but by many of my fellow employees and staff members of Broward County Public Schools.
