    “Not every child needs every assessment. Same old broken wheel, differentiate instruction BUT the assessments remain standard for everyone.

    I can’t speak for the lower level grades, but the removal of the BOY and MOY in 4th grade makes me happy!

    Looking at the slides, I will have to wait and see what they call "reduced" for BOY and MOY science for 5th. Glad to see it totally gone for the littles. Definitely thrilled to see iReady gone for Kindergarten and 1st, hopefully, by next year gone for everyone when they are sued into oblivion. No mention of platforms for testing. Is Performance Matters still mandatory for elementary reading and math? Are the micro assessments still mandatory on Progress Learning? These are the the tests they lied about and told parents were optional, while they absolutely were NOT. Saying school wide flexibility means principals can still demand them. Which means "not" optional. And on what platform? The curriculum platform or paper should be in writing also for Savvas and Benchmark. However, I will keep an open mind and hope for the best for students as this new year begins.

    Overall I will say what a massive improvement! It may not be perfect, but is so much better if it is actually how it will be applied. I still remember the promises made and the statements made that were all lies last year.

    That’s why I spoke out about it a couple weeks ago at the school board meeting where they were also discussing reducing screen time. I specifically said to them about the Discovery Ed videos which teachers have requested and used not being renewed yet we’re renewing iReady for close to $3 million.

    I can't think of anything worse. We would do better with TpT products for far less. With the garbage curriculum, the ridiculous scope and sequence, and all the MANDATED DISTRICT micro assessments taking up valuable time, it's a wonder our students learn science at all. And these are the same tests I gave students six years ago. They aren't new. We used to have them on Canvas. We always had them as downloads, pretest and post test, but again, NOT mandatory
