My name is Dr. Trudy Jermanovich.

Again, I’m appalled that district staff has directed funds to the highest wage earners in this district. When the voters approved the Bond monies, teachers were to be the main beneficiaries of these funds so that they could have some hope of making ends meet with their insufficient base salary. SCHOOL BASED personnel and a few others were also to be included. Teachers received monies through the regular bargaining process and if there were funds left over, the money was again to be distributed to teachers through the bargaining agreement. When money is siphoned off and given to those making more than $100,000. per year, it is just not fair.

It is unthinkable that the district staff misinterpreted the will of the Board and allowed so many highly paid individuals to reap a windfall that was supposed to mainly go to teachers. I believe that the Board must do all it can to right this wrong, and that may mean some staff members need to be changed or terminated. This is not the only time that changes were kept from the Board and became the cause of wasted resources. I’ve been a part of the chaotic meetings held to modify policies which were often left until the last minute and then hurriedly passed by the Board. The fiasco with clear backpacks was not brought to the Board appropriately and caused the Board to look like they were not in control of upper level administrators. The constant postponement of the approval of a curriculum for Sex Education has decimated what used to be a comprehensive program. Staff stated that it didn’t matter how late it was approved because that’s when schools implemented the sex education curriculum. Middle and high school teachers said that was incorrect and they wished to implement the program earlier in the year, but were thwarted by upper level administrators.

These are only a few of the instances where upper level administrators were not following the will of the Board. I hope you can rectify this issue by correcting the referendum dollars. Unfortunately, the public will lose trust in the actions of the Board if you are not able to reign in some of these destructive behaviors.
